How to reach Munich

By car

To reach Munich by car from Italy there are two main connections, one is via the Brenner tunnel on the highway A22, the other is via the Saint Bernardino pass.
If you choose the first option it is necessary to pay a toll and have a pass called vignetta. With the second option via Saint Bernardino you must have both the Austrian and Swiss pass. Normally these pass can be purchased at service stations in proximity of the customs.


By plane

The airport is situated 28 kilometres north-east of the city. The city centre is reachable either by bus or with the suburban railway. The bus service operates every 20 minutes, and the journey takes approximately 45 minutes. With the two railway lines S1 and S8 you can reach the city centre in 40 minutes.

By train

The main station (Hauptbanhof) is situated in the centre of Munich, just two kilometres far from the main square Marienplatz. It is connected to all the suburban railway lines (S-Bahn), underground lines U1,U2,U3,U4,U5, and tram lines. Munich is very easy to reach by train, thanks to frequent daily connections with the main Italian cities.
